Dear friends,
I would like to invite you to participate in a very important process, Budget 2012.
Amid ongoing global economic uncertainty, Canada continues to garner international praise for its strong economic policies. Influential business magazine, Forbes, ranked Canada as the best country in the world in which to do business, and three major credit ratings agencies have all given Canada their highest AAA rating.
While that’s positive news, too many Canadians are still looking for work and the global economic recovery remains fragile, demonstrated through sovereign debt concerns in Europe and continued muted economic growth in the US. Our next Budget will therefore be an important one for our future.
In preparation for federal Budget 2012, I would like to personally invite you to submit your suggestions on how we can best protect and create jobs, secure Canada’s economic recovery, ensure balanced budgets and improve the well-being of Canadians over the long term.
On Wednesday, January 25th I will be hosting a Pre-Budget Consultation meeting to provide residents in Newmarket and Aurora an opportunity to have a direct say in the process. This is an opportunity to let your government know how you would like your federal tax dollars spent and what your budget priorities are for the future. The details follow:
Newmarket-Aurora Pre-Budget Consultation Meeting
Wednesday, January 25, 2012
7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Aurora Cultural Centre
22 Church Street, Aurora
Oral and written submissions will be accepted at the meeting. Everyone is welcome to attend; however, if you would like to make a presentation (up to approx. 7 minutes) you are kindly asked to register ahead of time by phone at 905.953.7515 or email at Lois.Brown@parl.gc.ca. All input received at the meeting, or through my office, by February 1st will be submitted to Finance Minister Flaherty.
I hope you consider joining this important process. With your participation, we’ll ensure the priorities of Newmarket and Aurora are heard loud and clear in Ottawa.
Kindest regards,
Lois Brown, M.P
