(Newmarket-Aurora, Ontario, February 13, 2009) Newmarket-Aurora MP Lois Brown has been selected as a member of the Canadian Delegation attending the Joint Meeting of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly’s Defence and Security, Political, and Economics and Security Committees in Brussels, Belgium on February 15-17, 2009.
The NATO Parliamentary Assembly provides a link between NATO and the parliaments of NATO nations within the Atlantic Alliance, helping to build parliamentary and public consensus in support of Alliance policies and to deal with major security and policy challenges confronting Allied countries.
Most of the Assembly’s work is carried out by five committees: Political, Defence & Security, Economics & Security, Science & Technology and Civilian Dimension of Security. The upcoming meeting at NATO Headquarters in Brussels is an annual meeting between the Defence & Security, Political and Economics & Security committees and senior NATO officials.
Ms. Brown joins Senator Pierre Claude Nolin, Senator Joseph Day, Senator Jane Cordy, MP Cheryl Gallant, and MP John McKay in the Canadian delegation.
