(Newmarket-Aurora, ON) - Newmarket-Aurora MP Lois Brown has been appointed to serve on the House of Commons Standing Committee on the Status of Women.
Standing Committees are permanent committees established by the Standing Orders of the House of Commons that regularly review items such as relevant legislation, reports, department expenditures and effectiveness of policies and programs.
“I look forward to serving on this committee and the opportunity to examine in greater details matters of importance to Canadian women,” said MP Brown.
Brown is an MP Mentor with Experiences, a program administered by Equal Voice which provides mentorship and training opportunities for young women interested in getting involved in the political process.
MP Brown also serves on the Standing Committee for Transport, Infrastructure and Communities. She leaves the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development.
