Statement By The Prime Minister Of Canada
February 13, 2010
Prime Minister Stephen Harper issued the following statement on Lunar New Year: “Please accept my warmest wishes as we welcome the Year of the Tiger. The celebration gives us a chance to make plans for the year to come, to reflect on the successes and challenges of the year that was and to count our many blessings. Courageous, competitive and confident, the tiger embodies traits that will stand Canada in good stead moving forward in the New Year. “The year before us holds great promise. Canada will stage the G-8 and G-20 summits, where the world’s most powerful leaders will set a new course towards sustained growth and prosperity. We will host Presidents Obama and Calderon at the North American Leaders’ Summit. And we welcome the world to Vancouver and Whistler at the 21st Winter Olympic Games. These are exciting times for Canada and this will energize Lunar New Year celebrations in homes and communities across our great country. “On behalf of the Government of Canada, please accept my best wishes for good health and good fortune. May the New Year be peaceful and prosperous for you and your family. “Thank you.” |
